Xmas Time

Dont you just wish it would hurry up and happen already?

One for your wallet, one for your wall

Business cards, keeping with this whole post-it note thing that's going on. The backs have peelable double sided tape on so you can take 'em and stick 'em wherever. Gorilla advertising, in a way...

www.laurenceware.co.uk

In this day and age you'd think setting up a website would be an easy intuitive process. It isn't.

John Slade

On Friday we had a guest lecturer by the name of John Slade come and impart his wisdom to us.

Really inspiring to see a freelancer making a living without having to stick to one repetitive way of working.

Quote of the day:
"Position yourself as a Creative, not a graphic designer/illustrator/photographer or whatever,"

Post - it!

I used to do this thing where I kept little diaries on Rizlas. Now I'm going to do it with post-it notes (and actually keep it up this time) (hopefully).

Happy Birthday!

"Original"

Poster design on the theme of 'Original' set by Don't Panic online http://www.dontpaniconline.com/

3 illustrated booklets communicating a sense of being at Millennium Square, Bristol at different times of the day. Morning, Daytime and Night.

Fat is a Feminist Issue - The Slim Version

A6 booklet produced in reaction to having read Susie Orbach's seminal book on eating disorders 'Fat is a Feminist Issue'. I felt that while interesting, the book was too lengthy and hard to grasp for someone in my position; male, without eating disorders or body image issues.
'The Slim Version' quite literally cuts away everything she didn't need to say.
Custom Typeface used for title, Courier new for rest of text.

Developed film

Very few of the photos came out recognisably, creating a pinhole camera effect. The rest came out as abstract ambient colours. The guy at Photographique would only develop them because I insisted. The results are not at all what I expected, the film has developed seemingly randomly, but the colours are beautiful! Triptych, they look like abstract landscapes, kinda like sunsets?

May get some of these enlarged, they make great triptychs. Next step is to remake the camera with a pinhole lens, as I think the aperture was too large before resulting in overexposure. Also maybe the camera wasn't entirely light-tight...

Making a Camera

Just experimenting with taking apart a disposable camera and fitting it with a new film, operating like a pinhole camera with a viewfinder...

Putting the Hart into Hartcliffe...

Poster project, we were sent to different suburbs of Bristol (In my case, Hartcliffe) and set to take 10 statements from local residents giving their opinions on the area. This information then had to be designed into an A2 poster which would fold down to A5.

Exhibition baby yeah!

Whats all this nonsense?

Heres the flyer for the 3 day exhibition were putting on in my new house. It showcases work from a few different pathways at UWE and invites people to leave comments next to the work, if youre in the area why not drop by? Promises to be pretty Rood.

This is going somewhere...

Some taken from direct observation, others from old photos bought in Brighton. Astute followers will notice the last one is in fact a study for that canvas I posted earlier. Feel the need to do some more painting, maybe as an accompaniment to a 'zine...
